Mr Scott Fletcher is a local Burnie resident and an experienced hip and knee arthroplasty Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Mr Fletcher’s interest in hip surgery includes both primary and revision surgery. For primary total hip joint replacement, his preferred approach is the anterior minimally invasive approach as he believes it to be a less invasive approach with the advantages of early mobilisation and earlier return to normal function.

Mr Fletcher performs knee replacement surgery using computer generated, patient specific cutting guides. The guides have the advantage for combining comprehensive pre-operation planning with intra-operative alignment accuracy. His preferred prosthesis is a medially stabilised knee prosthesis which has the advantage of providing enhanced stability so supporting early post operation mobilisation.

For both hips and knees, Mr Fletcher uses a combination anaesthetic technique that allows same day mobilisation and early discharge for suitable patients.
