Mr Prisell trained within the Karolinska Institute’s university hospitals in Stockholm, Sweden. He became a specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1988, finished his PhD in 1999 and has extensive experience in adult orthopaedics with special interests in trauma, hip and knee arthroplasty.

With a strong medical legal background, Per is passionate about working to high ethical standards and focuses on listening to and involving patients in their own treatment plans in a collaborative fashion.

Extensive experience in a pain clinic along with anaesthetics exposure, have also bolstered his ability to help to treat and manage patients. For example, Per can provide a unique pain solution for shoulder impingement in the form of a block (local anaesthetic injection).

Mr Prisell has been employed as an orthopaedic staff specialist at the North West Regional Hospital for the past 9 years and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. Prior to moving to Burnie Mr Prisell held consultant positions within Karolinska Institutet’s university hospitals at Huddinge and Sodersjukhuset, Stockholm, Sweden.

In 2005 Per relocated to Australia with his Australian wife, Sharna. The first 5 years he spent in QLD; Hervey Bay and Brisbane, having supervised positions, all according to the Australasian colleges of surgeons protocol for doctors having an international medical degree.

Mr Prisell is now available for private practice at North West Private Hospital.
