Cardiology

We are proud to offer comprehensive cardiology services for the north west Tasmanian community through our state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory. Developed through a partnership between Healthe Care and Charles Heart, the facility provides local access to advanced cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the region for specialist heart care.

Our experienced cardiologists and cardiac team provide a range of diagnostic services designed to assess heart health, identify cardiovascular disease and guide treatment decisions.

Procedures currently available include:

• Coronary Angiography: specialised imaging to assess blood flow through the coronary arteries and detect narrowing or blockages that may increase the risk of heart attack.
• Transoesophageal Echocardiography (TOE): a specialised ultrasound procedure that provides detailed images of the heart's structure and function, aiding the diagnosis of valve disease, blood clots, rhythm disorders and other cardiac conditions.
• Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR): insertion of a recording device for patients experiencing unexplained fainting, palpitations or suspected heart rhythm abnormalities, enabling long-term monitoring of the heart's electrical activity.

Whether you require investigation of cardiac symptoms, ongoing monitoring of a heart condition or advanced diagnostic testing, our dedicated cardiac team is committed to providing timely, compassionate and expert care for every patient.
